A website that covers safety and home security news ranked Mattawa as the safest city in Washington for 2017.
According to safwise.com Mattawa had .87 incidents of violent crime and 4.99 incidents of property crime per 1000 population and the website said Mattawa is home to helpful citizens and a proactive law enforcement community.
The survey’s authors say they used the most recent FBI Crime Report statistics along with population data to calculate their rankings.
Mattawa was number three on the 2016 ranking.
