MRJ Under Test Experiences Engine Trouble

A setback last week for the Mitsubishi Regional Jets being tested in Moses Lake.

Trade publication Aviation International News reports an uncommanded shutdown of one of the MRJ’s Pratt and Whitney engines during a test flight on Aug. 21 resulted in the plane diverting to Portland International Airport.

A Pratt and Whitney spokesperson tells the publication the plane landed in Portland without incident and the failed engine was removed then taken to Pratt and Whitney for an investigation.
