Early Results In From No Texting Law Enforcement

The State Patrol says that since Washington’s new distracted driving laws took effect in July troopers have issued nearly 1,000 warnings and nearly 100 tickets.

According to the patrol troopers have been in a more informative role as drivers get used to the new regulations but if they see an egregious violation a ticket will be issued.

People caught holding their phone while driving will be fined $136 dollars with a second electronic DUI ticket in 5 years costing is $234 and all violations become part of the driving record.
