Monument Hill Fire Destroys One Building, Evacuation Orders Reduced

A fast-moving wildfire near Quincy has resulted in one home lost and electrical outages in areas of Quincy, Soap Lake and Ephrata.

The fire started around 7pm Wednesday east of Monument Hill east of Road H NW and south of Road 13 NW and according to the Grant County Sheriff’s office is much larger than the original 500 acre estimate.

Initially level three evactions were ordered for the area but those have now been scaled back to level 1.

A Red Cross shelter has been sent up at Quincy High School.
